Antique Watercolour Evening On Coniston E H Marten

This is an original antique watercolour by listed artist Elliot Henry Marten. It depicts Coniston in the lake district. A great looking landscape painting. It is set within a gilt gesso frame and mount. There is some plaster missing in places from the frame (see pics) but this does not take away from the paintings beauty.

Elliot Henry Marten was a Scottish artist living in Hawick. Known for his stunning landscapes he exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1886 and also the Dudley Gallery. He is listed in the Dictionary of British artists, the Dictionary of Victorian painters, the Dictionary of British watercolour artists and the Dictionary of Scottish painters. His exhibition career ended when he emigrated to Australia in 1901.
